Reticule
To Go!
with Susan Spencer
You won't believe how easy it is to
make and attractive reticule (period purse)! We will make
a lovely, handy bag in this class: a classic ruched drawstring
reticule dating in style from the early 19th century, when waistlines
rose, driving pockets out of fashion so that stunning reticules
became all the rage. This particular style of bag is also perfect
for the late 1800s and early 1900s as well! Participants
are requested to bring their own fabrics, so that their creations
will complement one of their own outfits -- we'll provide the
pattern, the expertise, and hands-on help! Bring your sewing
machine, scissors, pins, 0.75 metres of fabric, 0.5 metres of
lining, 3 metres of cord, 2 metres of twill tape, and matching
thread. Optional adornments, such as tassels, braids,
trims, and the like, are very welcome as well!
