Scented Waters

Miss Spencer's Linen Water
Based on an original recipe dating from the 1600s, our Linen Water is "a special sweet water to perfume clothes in the folding, being washed." Simply sprinkle sparingly over shirts or sheets when they are being ironed, or put a small splash into your rinse water. People tell us that they've never slept better than on a pillowcase spritzed with our linen water. And as a bonus, the wonderful scent discourages moths and other insects. Because we use the original recipe, you will find that our linen water is about 20 times as strong as many other commercially-available linen waters!

Not for internal or medicinal use - do not imbibe!

Miss Spencer's Lavender Water
"
Lavender Blue, Dilly Dilly, Lavender Green, When I am King, Dilly, Dilly, You'll Be My Queen."

Lavender-scented water has been a favourite way to spoil oneself from as long ago as the twelfth century right up to the present. It is perfect to wear as a light, refreshing fragrance, and makes a delightful rinse for the hair. It also makes a wonderful addition to a footbath at the end of a long, hot day. It can also be used as a lovely addition to cooking or in summer drinks, especially lemonade.

Miss Spencer's Rose Water
Just as images of roses have decorated pieces of art and sculptures for time immemorial, the scent of roses has been used to freshen the body and scent the home since the rose was first harvested by man. Mrs. McLean's Rose Water is made using eighteenth-century techniques, and may be used as a perfume, a hair rinse, a room freshener, or even to remove heavy or offensive smells from clothing. It also may be used for cooking, especially in antique dessert recipes!
